Wala akong magawa… sinubukan ko na namang hanapin sa Google o kaya sa Yahoo ang sarili ko, madalas ko itong gawin, natutuwa kasi ako na pwede mo nang mahanap sa Net ang sarili mo eh, pwede ka nang makakuha ng mga impormasyon tungkol sa pagkatao mo, kaya naman halos every other month eh ginagawa kong libangan ang hanapin sa Google ang iyong sarili.

At ito ang aking natunghayan.

Sa aking paghahanap, nagulat ako dahil merong bagong inihanda para sa akin si Mr. Google, isang URL na pamilyar na pamilyar sa akin, nang mabasa ko ang URL ADD eh talagang natuwa ako, ito na ang URL add ng aking Lumang Home Page, probably masluma pa sa mga blog niyong lahat. Mas luma pa sa Friendster at Facebook.

HOME PAGE: ano nga ba ito, ito ang personal website kung tawagin, early 90’s ng maging publicly and commercially available ang Internet, at sa mga panahong ito ay may katigasan na ang ulo ko, kaya naman laman ako parati ng Internet Café, nakikipag chat sa mga chatters ng Dalnet sa mIRC.

Una akong natutunong gumawa ng Website noong 1998, walang nagturo sa akin, self exploration lang talaga ang ginwa  ko at ang unang nagawa ko eh itong Home Page na ngang ito, mga pinagtagpitagping source code na nanenok ko pa sa ibang home page ng may home page, dati kasi, hindi pa uso ang Friendster na iyan, Facebook, twitter at kung ano ano pang mga social Media website, kaya ang paggawa ng Home Page ang kinakahiligan ng maraming bata noon, at isa na ako sa mga nakigulo sa world wide web. Napaka astig mo na kung may sarili kang homepage, allo na kung ikaw mismo ang gumawa, pwede ka nang magtayo ng sarili mong kulto at ikaw ang parokyano ng mga taga sunod mo.

Marami akong Home Page  na nagawa, pero lahat hindi ko natapos, dahil narin sa kakulangan ng kaalaman, kaya hindi ko natatapos ang mga ito, dahil na rin sa kabisihan ko sa paglalaro noon ng Quake at Half-Life, kaya di ko natatapos ang mga ito. At hangang ngayon, wala pa akong natatapos sa mga ginawa ko noon.

Pero masaya ako na muli kong masilayan ang homepage na ito, ang pinaka unang homepage na nagawa ko. Early months of 1998 ko po yan ginawa.

Sayang nakalimutan ko na ang log in name ko dyan at password, hindi ko na siya maaayos, ngayon pa na napaka rami ko nang alam sa pag gawa ng home page at napakarami ko ng pwedeng ilagay, at saka naka block rin ang FortuneCity.com sa Saudi kaya di ko rin siya mabubuksan kapag di ako gumamit ng Tunnel, ito ang mahirap sa bansang ito, napakaraming site ang nakablock.

Google +

Google +, my first thought about this new social network created of course by Google was “Oh come ‘on!!! Not again”, the last time Google tried to smacked down Facebook using Google Wave was a disappointment, in fact almost all users of Google Wave including myself don’t know what it is all about, they don’t know where to start and what to do with the site.

While Facebook is continuing to hit the road to slowly but surely murdering Friendster and MySpace, Google Wave then are giving a hard time for the users to understand its logic and principles.

So when I heard that Google is launching another version of Social Networking Site in their menu, the first thing that came to my mind was, “Be sure it would clean your mess”, then finally they launched G+ as an invite mode only, lucky for me I received an invites from a friend who is already using it, and so when I received the invites I did not hesitate to try it, I spent almost my entire day in the office yesterday exploring the beta test mode of Google.

Hell Yeah!!!! This should be it, “A new star was born” that is my first impression to the newest social media, although you will really find it bore on your first try, of course, come ‘on the social media hasn’t yet gone too far, it didn’t even yet last for a month or two, what do you expect, plus the fact that it is only for invite mode, you better watch out once they launch it on public yard!!!

G+ has all the feature of other social network, the common thing and nothing special like from photo sharing, tagging and posting you thought known as streaming but the most important thing I’ve noticed with the site was its simplicity, I mean it's my opinion, I don't know maybe for me Facebook is becoming more complicated than usual, I can say that once they launch it to public it will boom in the sky and create a big bang noise like a fireworks.

G+ focuses more on groups, privacy and sharing, once you share your thoughts, pictures, video via streaming, you will be ask to whom would you like to share it, then you have to decide whether you go public or just to a small amount of friends on your Circle.

You can post your pictures to your profile without allowing your boyfriend or girlfriend to have an access to it.

Grouping: compare to FB, you don’t just add a friend in your G+ without grouping them, there are four Standard Circle "Friends", "Family", "Acquaintances" and "Following."  There is also an option for you to create new groups of friends; you can also follow people without their approval just like in Twitter, of course you can customized your FB Friends List but for me G+ is much easier to customized compare to FB.

Google Chat is known as Google Talk, but in G+ it is known as Hangout, I tried it already last night and it was pretty nice, because you can be able to talk to multiple people in your circle compare to FB Video Calling.

Personally I like G+ but of course I won’t gonna turn my back to FB.

For the meantime I can say that this is it, if it will not totally kill FB at least it will surely give Mark Zuckerberg a real head ache and competitor.

Dotcom

Wala na sigurong mas astig pa sa domain na Dotcom, lalo na kapag ang gamit mong domain ay ang sarili mong domain name, mas parang angat ka sa ibang blogger at astig, naks!!

Mula pa 1998 gusto ko nang magkaroon ng sarili kong website na gamit ko ang sarili kong domain, at mula pa noon ay talagang pangarap ko na ang gamitin ang www.Musingan.com bilang akong domain name, ang kaso, sa mga ganitong kalakalan, eh madalas kailangan mo ng Credit Card at dahil wala akong Credit Card, hindi ako nabigyan ng pagkakataong makabili ng sarili kong domain, wala rin web hosting company sa Zamboanga City, kaya hangang pangarap na lang ako.

2006 pa ako nagbablog pero nitong February 2011 ko lang sineryoso ang pagsusulat sa blog ko, at kasabay ng pagseryoso ko dito eh nabuhay ulit ang pagaasam kong magkaroon ng sarili kong domain at lalong tumindi ang paghahangad ko ng na magkaroon ng sarili kong domain ng makita kong meron ng bagong domain name si Raymond Diamante ng oneacreofdiamond para sa kanyang blog.

Kung tutuusin, mura lang naman ang domain name eh, makakakuha ka ng sarili mong pangalan sa halagang USD5$, ang kaso tulad nga ng sinabi ko, dahil saw ala akong credit card, eh hindi ako nabibigyan ng pagkakataong makabili nito online, kaya patuloy akong nanibogho kay Acre, hmmmp...

Until.

“The most interesting blog award” came na pakulo ni Roy, wow nabuhayana ko ng loob, sabi ko, ito na, ito na ang pinakahihintay kong pagkakataon, kailangang makasali ako sa pakulo niya at masiguradong ako ang magwawagi, at hindi nga ako bingo ng tadhana, ako nga ang nagwagi, salamat sa mga bomoto.

Kahapon ko nakita ang resulta, masayang Masaya ako, at kasabay nito ay ang pagkataranta kung anong domain ang gagamitin ko, pero tinatanong pa bay un, eh simula’t-simula pa eh gusting gusto ko nang mabili ang www.musingan .com, kaya naman ng magemail sa akin si Roy ay hindi na ako nagdalwang isip pa na sabihing gusto ko www.Musingan.com.

Frustrated sa Friendster

weow!!!!.. super frustrated ako ngayon, una, nalalamangan na ako ng puntos sa pacontest ni Abdul-Hakeem sa kanyang blog na "The Most Interesting Blog Award Contest" grabeh.. piniga ko na lahat ng mga kakilala ko, kaso, talagang ganun, kung di sila boboto eh wala ka talagang magagawa, o baka naman mas maraming kilala yung isa kung kalaban, NAKS!!!

Anyway.. hindi ito tungkol sa pacontest ni Abdul-Hakeem, ito'y tungkol sa Friendster, hay naku, alam mo bang simula ng marinig ko na magsasara na daw ang Friendster ay medyo nalungkot ako, tapos ng mabasa ko na hindi talaga sila magsasara kundi eh gagawin na lang nilang game portal ang kanilang site eh medyo natuwa ako, lalo na ng mabasa ko na magkakaroon sila ng bagong style ng kanilang website eh maslalo akong natuwa.

Aminin niyo na, minsan ay napasaya rin kayo ni Friendster, kaya naman hindi rin maaalis sa akin ang mag-isip at magdasal na sana eh makabawi sila sa kalunus-lunus na pagkatalo kay Facebook, pero, kaninang umaga, I was disappointed with them (echus,english yun), kasi naman, kagabi hindi ko talaga tinulugan ang mga pictures ko hangat di ako nakakasigurado na naexport ko sila sa Multiply Account ko (oppps.. huwag mo nang e-click.. kasi di ko pa yan naseset-up),  tapos naexcite na akong buksan kaninang umaga dahil gusto ko makita ang bagong style ng website nila, tapos ito, wala paring pagbabago, ganun parin, hayst.

Anyway.. bibigyan ko pa sila ng konting panahon, kung hindi eh, good bye na sa kanila at tuluyan ko nang isasara ang friendster account ko kung wala parin silang pagbabagong gagawin sa kanilang website.

So yun lang.. nais ko lang maglabas ng sama ng loob.

Alam ko, minsan niyo na itong pinatos noon, pero ngayon hindi niyo na siya masyadong napapansin, sino ba naman ang makakalimot sa kanya, siya ang nagpasikat sa akin, mula sa isa, dalawa, tatlong followers ko eh, nadagdagan dahil sa kanya. Isang gabi lang umakyat ang followers ko sa 28 mula sa 12, oh hah.. laki ng difference di ba?

Yan ang maganda sa blogsngpinoy.com, natutulungan ka niyang ipromote ang blog mo, katulad ko, laki ng inakyat… eehehehe… uu na.. malaki na yan para sa akin no… para sa baguhang katulad ko, kaya sana maintindihan niyo…

Uy… alam niyo ba kahapon.. out of curiosity eh sinubukan kong hanapin ang blog ko kung nakalista na ba sa site nila? Kasi ang alam ko mga three months na nang ako’y magparehistro sa kanila eh… kaya naman sinubukan ko, at ayun.. heto na nga ang resulta…

Yehey....

Ok fine, ako na ang Old School, eh sa marami-rami akong naaalalang mga site lately eh, mga dati kong ginagamit na site tapos lately eh bigla kong namissed, sign of aging na daw ito, reminiscing the past, yahoo, ako na ang Wrangler, yeah.

Anyway, speaking of yahoo, for today’s post!!! locally made naman tayo, alam ba news eh este niyo, kung merong Yahoo.com ang America ay meron din tayong Yehey.com? tama, Yehey nga… alam ko konti lang ang nakakalam nito, pero sa totoo lang, kaya talaga nating makipag sabayan sa mundo eh, kung meron lang talagang suporta ang bawat isa sa atin.

Sumikat ito noong 1997, at naging tanyag sa buong Pilipinas, ito ang kauna-unahang search engine na gawang pinoy, kaya naman tunay na maipagmamalaki, may tatak ng isang tunay na Pilipino, Yehey na Yehey talaga.

Naaalala ko, parang meron din ata silang bersyon ng YMChat eh, at tinatawag nila ito TOL, parang talk online ata ang ibig sabihin niyan or tambayan online, basta masmainam siyang gamitin kesa sa YM, kasi sa YM, exclusive lang na YM Members ang makakachat mo, eh sa TOL, lahat na ata eh, pwede mong e-add ang mga kachat mo sa YM, parang AIM siya, or ehem, yung sikat para sa mga Call Center Agent ang “imo.im” yehey talaga.

At meron din tayong pinoymail.com, kagaya ng yehey.com, sumikat din ito noong dekada 90’s, 1998 ata ng una itong ginawa, kaso nagsara na ata ito noong 2005, hindi ako sigurado, kasi lately ng buksan ko siya eh hindi ko na mahanap ang site, nakapag register pa naman ako dito noong 1998 sa account na “heavenlydevil”, sayang naman ang mga kaibigan ko na nakaregsiter sa email na yun, the last time kasi na ginamit ko siya was year 2000 ata…!!! yehey… naaalala ko pa.

Yesterday I posted something about Wikipedia,but have you ever thought how was Wikipedia looks like way back 10 years ago, have you ever thought what was the face of your favorite search engine before? Have you ever wonder what was the feature they are offering? Have you ever wonder what was the first email provider?

Well, the Internet revolution can be traced back to 1950-1960’s with the development of computers, through the years and decade of research and study, Internet has grown wide and more functioning, and together with these advancing and modern innovations is the more useful tool for internet.

1990’s considered to be the golden age for the commercialization of the internet, and during that time a lot of commercial website was born and among these are Yahoo, MailCity, Hotmail, Rocketmail, and some other famous website such as ESPN, MTV and other more.

But have you ever thought how it’s like to log on to yahoo that time. Below is some of the screen shot I took from the web. And I feel like WOW, I missed those days, the day when I am still ignorant about internet, I missed going to the Internet café and not knowing where to start.

Yahoo in Beta Mode (1997) it's one of the earliest Search Engine

and is also one of the most successful.

Google in Beta mode (1999)... also one of the earliest

and for me the most friendly user of them all.

AltaVista.com is the famous and most powerful search engine back then.

I really really like using this when searching for something.

MailCity 1998, one of the earliest Commercial Email Provider.

if I am not mistaken Mailcity was bought by Lycos.

Hot Mail 1997, yeah.. I definitely have an account here either. 

This was powered by MSN.

RocketMail 1998, one of my frustrations, and up to now.

I still regret not signing up with them.

Before kasi... Astig ka talaga kapag naka Rocket mail ka,.

but you know what, this was acquired by Yahoo. and the Yahoo Mail is the Old Rocket mail.

Although I have Yahoo Mail, I still regret not signing up with them when they are still known as rocket mail.

2001 Old Wikipedia Website...

AngelFire (1997) was the hottest Free web hosting service back in the 1990's.

I wonder if my old old simple HTML website still exist.

ESPN.com (1998), my MailCity account was always full because of NBL, NBA update.

And becuase there were no facebook, Friendster and Myspace back then.

No twitter, and others.. I always see to it that I am connected to MTV-Asia.com

this was 1998

and lastly, yours truly BLOGGER.com (1999 Edition), yeah....

And so you see ladies and gentlemen. it's been 15 years or more, but stuill some of the website I've mentioned still exist or shall we say all of them still exist.

it's so nice to look back at the time when everybody is still naive in using internet.

Wikipedia is one of the powerful tools over the Internet browsing today; it begun its operation way back 2001 by joined project of Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger using the concept and technology of a wiki pioneered by Ward Cunningham. The Idea is to create a free online free web page that helps the people for searching something on the net.

Wiki is Hawaiian word means “Quick or Fast”, while Pedia is from Encyclopedia, together they put the two word and chuala “WIKIPEDIA” was born, the good thing about this website is they have about 18 million articles (over 3.6 million in English) have been written collaboratively by volunteers around the world, and almost all of its articles can be edited by anyone with access to the site.

Just like the images below, if did not notice, there is actually a different between the two, the first one is the snapshot for the result I took April 29, 2011, I heard that Prince William and Kate Middleton is getting married, I was curious about her Kate, so I decided to searched her name on Wikipedia, and the result was the first image below, so yesterday, April 30, 2011, I searched again her name and the result was the second image.

The first image shows that Kate Middleton is the fiancée of Prince William, and their wedding will take place on April 29, 2011 while the second image shows that she is the Wife of Prince William, haha, see how updated the Wikipedia website is, in just about a day old, the profile of Princess Kate was updated from being the fiancée to wife (Cool).

Through the years of using the Internet Wikipedia has become a part of my journey and quest in blogging and self exploration, it helps me to define the things that I can’t understand; it helps me gain knowledge that only through Internet can be found. Wikipedia make it easy for us to make a research and gather some information about any topic.

If you search about something now a day, it’s a lot faster compare than before, but of course that is only if you have internet access, nyehehehehe.
